Monday, August 10th, 2020: This week's Player of the Week was Bob Latham of the Burlington Bees.
His big bat waylaid Midwest League pitching for 11 hits in 23 at-bats, 4 home runs and 8 RBIs while hitting .478 and scoring 6 runs.
Latham is hitting .367 this year with 9 home runs, 28 RBIs and 30 runs scored. He has 47 hits in 128 at-bats, 20 walks and a .441 on-base percentage. Latham has played in 34 games. |
 | Glendenning Bewilders Lugnuts in Shutout
Saturday, August 8th, 2020: In an outstanding outing, Larry Glendenning tamed Lansing on a 4-hit shutout. The Beloit hurler went the distance, finishing with 7 strikeouts and 1 walk in the 8-0 win.
"He had a lot of first pitch strikes and kept us off balance with a lot of off-speed stuff," according to the Lansing manager. "We just didn't get too many balls squared up today."
This season Glendenning has compiled a 8-4 mark with a 2.70 ERA in 15 starts. |
 | Bad Boy Brawlers Suspended 5 Games
Monday, August 3rd, 2020: South Bend's Domingo García and Burlington's Alexandre Richer have been handed 5-game suspensions for their parts in yesterday's upheaval at Spartans Ballpark. The teams were notified today that the suspensions would go into effect immediately. According to the league commissioner García and Richer provoked and incited the brawl and bore the blame for what transpired.
This year García is batting .262 with no home runs. He has scored 7 runs and driven in 4.
Currently Richer has 25 relief appearances, saving 1. His record is 1-2 with 18 strikeouts in 32 innings and a 5.06 ERA. |
