Monday, August 10th, 2020: Josh Grady of the Frederick Keys had a big week with the bat and today was voted the Player of the Week by the Carolina League.
For the week Grady batted .481 (13-27) with 6 home runs and 13 RBIs.
For the year Grady is hitting .333 with 13 home runs. His stats include 41 runs batted in and 31 runs scored. |
 | Pelicans Davis Out of Action
Saturday, August 8th, 2020: Mike Davis at first refused to leave today's Lynchburg-Myrtle Beach game after he suffered a torn rotator cuff while throwing a pitch. But his manager convinced him not to be foolish. "I want to be on the field," the feisty Myrtle Beach reliever said. "I'll play through just about anything." Given time to reflect on the situation, he knew it was in his best interest to get immediate treatment. The injury is expected to keep Davis out of action for 6-7 months.
Davis has no saves in 13 relief appearances this season with a 1-0 record and 10.13 ERA. |
 | Ortíz Ups Hit Streak to 20 Consecutive Games
Thursday, August 6th, 2020: Jesús Ortíz collected 1 hit in today's game and extended his hitting streak to 20 games. His club, the Winston-Salem Warthogs, beat Potomac 6-2.
After the ballgame, Ortíz quipped to a BNN reporter, "Right now, when they throw me the ball, it looks the size of a softball. I'm pretty excited how things are clicking."
Jesús Ortíz struck out in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, struck out in the 5th and singled in the 7th.
So far this year Ortíz has 2 home runs and a .317 batting average. |
