Monday, August 10th, 2020: All week long nobody could get Robert King out in the Southern League and that is the prime reason he was voted the Player of the Week.
The Chattanooga second baseman took home the trophy by blasting 12 hits in 28 at-bats for a .429 batting average, driving in 12 runs and scoring 10 times.
This season King has banged out 82 hits in 272 at-bats for a .301 average with 10 home runs. He is getting on base at a .388 pace and his totals also include 34 RBIs and 46 runs scored. |
 | Players Suspended in Suns-Bay Bears Donnybrook
Saturday, August 8th, 2020: The league commissioner announced that two players had been suspended for inappropriate conduct. He told BNN, "What I'm trying to do with these penalties is say, we can't stop you from doing these things, but if you do them, you have to understand you will pay the consequences."
Baseball can be an intense game and on-field confrontations happen. However, the league disciplinary policy is to punish, sometimes severely, those who decide to settle things with their fists.
When Lúcio Crus of the Jacksonville Suns and Emílio Corona of the Mobile Bay Bears got into a scuffle during a game, both players knew that a suspension would be forthcoming.
Sure enough, today it was announced that both players will each receive a 9-game suspension for their actions in a recent game at Jacksonville Grounds.
This year Crus has batted at a .223 pace with 27 hits, 6 home runs, 28 RBIs and scored 16 times.
